Join UHR and The Consent Collective for a free one-hour webinar exploring Higher Education institutions can prepare for the upcoming Employment Rights Act requirement for employers to take "all reasonable steps" to prevent workplace sexual harassment.
This October, employers will face a strengthened legal duty
to take proactive steps to prevent workplace sexual harassment. At the same
time, universities in England continue to meet Office for Students E6
requirements to support both staff and students in preventing sexual harassment
and creating safer learning and working environments. For many institutions,
the focus has understandably been on compliance. But effective prevention is
not simply about having the right policies, procedures and reporting processes
in place. It depends on something deeper: prevention capability.
In this one-hour webinar, psychologist and author Dr Nina Burrowes will explore
what effective prevention looks like in practice and why prevention is not
simply an administrative challenge, but a psychological one. Drawing on the
themes from her new book, All Reasonable Steps: How Psychology
Transforms Workplace Sexual Harassment Prevention, Nina will examine the
behavioural and cultural factors that determine whether prevention efforts
genuinely succeed.
·
What the new "all reasonable steps"
duty means for Higher Education employers.
·
Why prevention capability matters more than
simply completing prevention activities.
·
The psychological and cultural factors that
determine whether prevention efforts succeed.
·
The capabilities different groups across the
institution need to develop, from employees and managers to HR teams and senior
leaders.
·
How training, risk assessment, third-party
harassment, and organisational learning contribute to an effective prevention
strategy.
·
How a staff-focused approach can complement
existing work to meet Office for Students expectations.
Whether you are reviewing your institution's readiness for the new legal duty or looking to strengthen your wider prevention strategy, this session will help you think differently about what meaningful and impactful prevention looks like.
