NEW - UHR Reward Challenges Survey Report

01 December 2022      Emma Brookes, Strategic Projects and Research Manager

There is so much going on in Reward at the moment. Whether you are working on changes in your pay structure to accommodate Living Wage or wondering what interventions might help your colleagues through the cost-of-living crisis, we know our members are dealing with difficult Reward challenges.

At the UHR Senior Summit, we asked HRDs how we could support you in your institution's Reward journey and amongst the responses you asked for access to data, sharing good practice, providing summarised information, benchmarking, and working groups. With this in mind, we are very pleased to publish a Joint Resource report for UHR and BUFDG Members which brings together data from the UHR Reward Challenges survey, independent analysis, polls from relevant sessions, external references, and insights from BUFDG.

Here are some of the key areas covered in the UHR Rewards Challenge Report:

  • Data showing the impact of the Real Living Wage Increase 2022
  • Polls taken during the UHR/ECC Pay Spine Living Wage Discussion Group meeting on 4th November 2022
  • Analysis of the UHR Reward Challenges Survey results, including additional commentary provided by respondents and covering the following areas:
    • Real Living Wage accreditation
    • Real Living Wage implementation
    • Actions planned to address the lower pay spine issues caused by Living Wage implementation
    • Difficulties in adapting grading structures
    • Implementation of one-off payments
    • Cost-of-Living Interventions
  • BUFDG insights on some of the common interventions being considered including additional payments, gifts, transport, discount schemes, wellbeing, and finance.

We hope this resource is helpful for you in determining how your institution might progress; if you have any suggestions or questions, please contact me at emma@uhr.ac.uk.
