The Awards Showcase is a window onto the projects that won, or were runners up, in the 2024 UHR awards. Each session will focus on one award category and bring together the individuals who led and delivered the projects. Presenters will give a quick overview of their projects before having a facilitated conversation about the opportunities and challenges the activity brought about. The audience will get the opportunity to engage directly with the presenters to ask any questions.
WINNERS - University of Glasgow: Together Against Racism
The University of Glasgow’s anti-racism campaign was rooted and developed in response to the real and lived experiences of members of the university community. Racism does not have a place at the university and the ‘Together Against Racism’ campaign marks a pivotal moment in an ongoing journey towards becoming an anti-racist institution. Through innovative teaching methods, targeted training and organisational development initiatives, the university is actively cultivating an environment where every individual feels valued and respected.
RUNNERS-UP - University of Leeds: Learning to Log on
‘Learning to Log on’ has helped colleagues improve their digital literacy, whilst making progress towards all members of our staff community having access to a University email address leading to greater inclusivity within the wider University. The team designed a pilot programme that would allow colleagues to access in-person training which worked around their shift patterns and where they worked. As well as being useful for receiving University updates, an email address is also essential for accessing services including the eduroam campus wi-fi, payslips through the SAP portal and many workplace benefits. As an initiative it has been imperfectly perfect and based on humility, compassion and a drive for inclusion and togetherness.
