Delivering Impact as an HR Administrator

Delivering Impact as an HR Administrator is aimed squarely at developing the professional practice of colleagues working in operational administrative roles. We have focused on creating a programme for those who want to improve their delivery in their current role rather than look for the next promotion. The four modules (three virtual and one face to face) explore important elements of these important first line roles providing context for the work that is undertaken and developing skills in writing business cases, exploring communication skills needed in different situations and considering personality types and the impact on teamwork.

Following on from the success of this programme in Autumn 2023 and lots of interest post-event, we are now running an additional four-module programme on the following dates (see the full programme details below):

• Tuesday 5^th November online 10am – 2.45pm
• Tuesday 12^th November online 10am – 2.45pm
• Tuesday 19^th November online 10am – 2.45pm
• Tuesday 3^rd December face to face (Mills & Reeve 24 King William St, London EC4R 9AT) 10am – 3pm

Programme Details

Module 1: 5^th November 2024 Online 10am to 2.45pm 

Business Understanding including:

• Higher Education context
• Finance
• Student numbers 
• How does planning work
• Importance of data (Sophie Crouchman)  
• Practical Legal Context – importance of contracts, UKVI

Module 2: 12^th November Online 10am to 2.45pm (delivered by our partner, Develop Global) 

Exploring Your Communication  

• Identify your own preferred communication style and the impact it has on other people.
• Recognise the preferred communication style of others.
• Adapt your own style to better suit those of others.
• Communicate effectively with a group of people when you don’t know what their preference is or if they have mixed preferences.

Module 3: 19^th November Online 10am to 2.45pm 

Strategy, Innovation and Impact

• Understand how the current UK HE Context creates challenges for HR Teams.
• Be able to articulate team purpose and gain perspective on how institutional strategy shapes HR operational activity.
• Use concepts and insights to identify opportunities for innovation against a backdrop of AI and new ways of working.
• Gain concrete takeaways on how to build a compelling business case for proposals that will enable delivery of HR Operations with impact.

Homework 

1. Create a business case for either a process improvement or change to bring to module 4. 
2. Complete a psychometric test for discussion in Module 4

Module 4: 3^rd December (face to face), Central London venue - 10am – 3pm 

Making a Case and Making a Team

• Gain experience in presenting a business case for process improvement.​
• Gain an understanding of the impact that psychometrics have on team dynamics.​
• Use concepts and insights to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of team working.​
• Wrap up the programme with confidence and capability to deliver HR Operations with impact.​
