Child benefit charge to hit basic rate taxpayers

The Low Incomes Tax Reform Group (LITRG) has issued this press release calling upon the Government to raise the high income child benefit charge (HICBC) as the charge will hit unknowing basic rate taxpayers in April. Essentially, the rise in the higher rate tax banding to £50,270 will not have a corresponding rise in the HICBC rate which remains at £50,000.
