The best learning day of the year

05 December 2019      Martin Higgs, Communications Officer

Helen Scott, UHR Executive Director:

“We’ve taken to describing the Showcasing Good Practice event, which we run annually, and which gives an opportunity for UHR Award winners to share information on their projects with peers under the UHR banner, as ‘one of the best learning days of the year’. And it is. The five award winners who led our day, together with excellent runners-up who delivered workshop sessions, contributed to create many excellent opportunities for learning. Everyone in the audience was typing and scribbling notes at an immense speed – the winning projects have so much for us all to take in transferable learnings. And whether we connected with our colleagues around a shared current challenge or around ideas for a new initiative, Showcasing Good Practice works just as a peer support network like UHR should: new people and new connections, new ideas, new energy.

“The winning projects speak for themselves in the pages that follow. Many things join them – buy-in from senior leadership, the need to reach out and collaborate beyond the HR silo, and the determination to take on difficulty and complexity, amongst many others.

“I am grateful to Eversheds Sutherland, our London host for the event. And grateful indeed to the delegates who came to hear more about these fantastic projects. But most of all I’d like to thank the speakers and workshop leads, who have put their own expertise on the table for the rest of us to learn from in an admirable spirit of collaboration.”

You can download speaker and workshop notes and slides from the Showcasing Good Practice event (29 November 2019) below, and we’ll add more to this page as we receive them.
