Staff Recruitment and Retention – UAG event

09 October 2018      Emma Keenan, Procurement Specialist

On Wednesday 28th November between 11am and 2pm in central London the UAG are running an event which will afford delegates the opportunity to engage with sector experts to discuss the challenges facing Universities in relation to staff recruitment and retention.  How are global markets impacting the sector? How will Brexit affect staff recruitment?  What are the threats from institutions in Asia, Australia and the USA?

Experts on the day will include:

Smita Jamdar, Relationship Partner for the Shakespeare Martineau's Education clients and advisor on strategic, regulatory, constitutional, governance and student matters. Smita is a member of the HE Commission. She is identified as a leader in her field in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners

Rachel Hall is the Editor of Guardian Universities which houses the Guardian University League Tables and content for both professionals and students working and studying in the HE sector. Rachel previously covered HE policy for Research Fortnight and has also worked for Reuters and the

Financial Times.

John Gill has been the Editor of the Times Higher since March 2012.  Highly respected within the sector and a regular supporter of the UAG.  He has previously held roles as News Editor, Deputy News Editor and Reporter with the magazine.

These experts will offer delegates a valuable insight into the environment that Universities now find themselves, the environment in which they will increasingly need to embrace. The workshop will be chaired by Tracy Hibbert, the Chair of the UAG and Director of HR at the University of Bangor.  David Lifford, a highly experienced procurement professional and Head of Procurement at the University of Bournemouth will  be available throughout the workshop to discuss the NERARS Agreement.

Once again following on from the hugely successful 2017 Conference, we are offering the event free of charge to both UAG members and non UAG members.  The UAG is an inclusive organisation and supports the professional development of ALL University staff by offering training and networking opportunities.

The Guardian and the THE will be supporting the event, both recognising the challenges facing the sector.  The event is a great opportunity to meet representatives from the media, to network with colleagues and increase the knowledge base.
